The BBG invites you to a celebration of the life and poetry ofRobert Burns, Scotland’s foremost poet. This celebration will take theform of a British Regimental (commonly known as Mess) Dinner. This does notmean that attendees must have a military service background. All members arewelcome to join this special occasion that carries on from the days whenofficers dined formally every evening. The traditions and ceremonies observed during the dinner have evolvedover time but the basic rules of conduct observed are those of civil society.

Each of the services within the UK Military have their owntraditions when hosting a Regimental Dinner with Burns Night normally being oneof those events. Each service - the Royal Navy (encapsulating the RoyalMarines), The British Army and the Royal Air Force - will be represented at thedinner in celebration of Robert Burns and in recognition of the number offormer British service men and women in the region.

The dinner will be presided by a senior officer (the ‘MessPresident’) with guests enjoying the formalities and key observations to thelife of Robert Burns, including the Burns’ Immortal Memory and Toast theLadies.

There will, of course, be a toast to Scotland’s national dish, theHaggis!

This is a great opportunity to celebrate the life of Rabbie Burnsin a unique service-orientated environment, without ever having to have joinedthe military!

Guests will be assigned to a leg (up to 30 seats) for dinner, hosted by each service. Should you wish to be allocated to a particular service please contact [email protected]

Confirm your attendance by 12 noon on Monday, 23rd January. This is a Pre Pay Event, your place will not be confirmed until payment is received. Cancellations accepted before 12 noon on Monday, 23rd January, ‘’No show fees’’ applicable after that date.
